Team Penning is a horse sport where a person is challenged with their horse skills and ability to work in a team environment, then to cut 3 cattle from a mob and put them in a pen under time restraints.
We have an array of horse breeds competing, including Australian Stock Horses, Quarter Horses, Paint Horses, Ponies & Shetlands and just about any other breed and from all disciplines. Our competition days are based around a fun and happy family environment, keeping costs to a minimum and encouraging participation from people of all ages and skill levels. Our association provides a training day once a year so everyone can learn and improve on their skills.
This sport is increasing in popularity mainly because it's cheap and any horse person can have a go. Please look through our website and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or just come along and check out our next competition day.
We look forward to seeing you!

The Upper Hunter Team Penning Association (UHTP) was
formed in mid 2005, by a group of horse enthusiasts that had
expressed a similar desire to develop the sport in the area.
With the Upper Hunter having the international reputation as
the Horse Capital of Australia there was no doubt that another
popular horse sport would be embraced by all.
From the beginning the committee decided that we would
provide a sport that catered for the whole family, regardless of
experience.
The aim was to keep the participation cost to a minimum, and
to provide riders from all disciplines with a safe competitive
environment, encouraged by good sportsmanship and a fun
atmosphere.
Since 2005 the Upper Hunter Team Penning Association has
gone from strength to strength, with new members growing
rapidly.
Competition days are all about having fun with the
opportunity to meet new people, improve your skills and just
to have a go. However if your out to get the best time we will
also cheer you on all the way.
Competition days are on the first weekend of the month,
rotating locations throughout the upper hunter.
The benefit of this sport is that you can have your own team,
or we can match you up in a team, so come on and give it a try,
you will have loads of fun.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our cattle donors without them our Team Penning days would not be possible.
